Hello!

I am a RL graphic designer, with a love of fashion, games and writing.

Here I will do my best to share some of my favorite items in second life. I will also showcase my top picks in stores, hunts, sales and anything I find exciting inWorld.

My objective feeds on the idea that you can find quality items at every price; alas this blog will showcase the best I find in SL.

This blog has no posting schedule or agenda, so it's entirely possible that I go a week or two without sharing new things. The fact is explained by what I previously wrote and that I have, as it happens, a RL! :)

It is important that I state that I am not being paid for any of this, as I am just a curious mind browsing Second Life in search of beautiful things.

Last night there was a party at the DDU (Duran Duran Universe), and the theme was “Sinners or Saints”. With very little time to prepare my outifit, I chose to wear this simple ensemble.

At the beginning the halo was in place, but by the end the horns were out and the halo threatened to fall!

Skintimate is probably the most generous skins store in all SL. When you join the group you get access to the freebies the talented creator of this skin line, Alexxandra Sorbet, offers her fans. And what is remarkable about it is that they’re not part of old lines! They’re new skins, from the most recent skin lines. Many are exclusive, even, like the one I’m wearing. 

As you can obviously tell, they’re high quality and very feminine! 

Besides the great group gifts, there’re always exclusive skins you can buy in very discounted prices for LOW (which I believe is also organized by Alexxandra Sorbet) and various commemorations.

This was one of the many great gifts made to celebrate the opening of the new Truth District. You had to be in the group to get these if I remember right. It’s probably up for sale at the mainstore, though. This colour is part of the “black & whites” collection.

I don’t know where I found these, but I think these are included in packs for newbies, which is how I got them I think, when I first got to SL. I think they’re really pretty, and pretty much made the outfit what I wanted it to be: angelic.

Mesh talk

I wanted to show off my new gorgeous DECO mesh combat boots from last Fifty Linden Friday, like a lot of fashion blogs are doing. Love the detail and style. I’ve been looking for boots like these for ages! They’re usually really expensive, which is why this was such a great find. But unless I want jagged edges in my photos, I won’t be able to. I could use photoshop, but I’d rather not.

So I opt to complain instead!

The point is, I couldn’t wear them if I wanted to (and I REALLY want to). Well, I could, but what would be the point of walking around with an ugly cylinder around my right leg? Not only is it visually uncanny (and, let’s be honest, useless) for me but also to a lot of users that haven’t made the transition yet. And they haven’t made the transition for a lot of reasons, and one of them is, probably, why I haven’t. I don’t know about you, but it irks me to be walking around and get distracted by sharp pixels instead of taking in the sights and getting immersed in SL. I’m a spoiled PS3 gamer, so sue me.

See, I’m on a mac. I use Phoenix, because it’s the viewer that works best for me. And, as you probably know, Phoenix doesn’t support mesh yet. Unfortunately I seem to have some graphic issues with the last versions of the official viewer and Firestorm (which, reportedly, will offer mesh integration in the near future). Antialiasing doesn’t work. It allows me to set a value but even when activated doesn’t reflect graphically - like a dummy command, jammed in there just for show. And seeing as those are the only viewers offering mesh right now, that I know of, I’m pretty much limited to my wonderful, but unfortunately surpassed, Phoenix viewer. There’s another one, Kirsten’s, but I reckon that one doesn’t have a mesh-enabled version out for mac just yet. Also, the present version shows the same graphic issue.

I don’t know much about these things but, if Phoenix worked fine… why doesn’t Firestorm? It’s a mystery to me.

I hope someone fixes this soon as I love my new boots, and because well mesh is, clearly, the future.
